Machina-Infinitum was founded in 2018 by fractal guru Matteo Scappin and VFX maestro/fractal artist Jesper Nybroe.
Fractals started in 2 dimensions, but thanks to todays technology we can visualize them in 3 dimensions, making our images look and feel different from all other 3D modelling software.
“These worlds have always existed, Machina-Infinitum interprets them, and makes you discover them.”
All this would not be possible without a Visual Effects Artist.
Jesper creates combinations of lights, colors and atmospheres that will immerse you even further into this mind-blowing world.
-Fractal Artist Matteo Scappin (Dolomites, Italy 1993)
My story about how I became a fractal artist starts back in 2006, I was 13 years old and spending time in front of the computer was already a part of my routine.
Then a few years later, I started High school (Computer science) where more interests started to get my attention, such as biology and physics. I started to see patterns in nature, like spirals in plants and galaxies, trees and river networks.I was fascinated by all of this.
From the other side of things, there was the theory, formulas that can describe physical phenomena that we experience every day. Everything was suddenly connected. I became more and more intrigued by the rules and patterns that govern the universe. Then one night I found an article about the famous “Mandelbrot set” discovered by Benoît Mandelbrot (1924-2010). I was speechless, that such a small formula (z=z^2 +c) could describe an endless geometric world full of colors and interesting shapes. A divine sign, a hint.
Some time later, I discovered on the old fractalforum that 3D fractals exist, and a love was born. All my passions, computer, biology and physics, held together by Art.
I started to explore 3D fractals with a piece of software called “Mandelbulb 3D”, doing new artworks everyday for years until I found that other people were doing that. Connections with other people and the fractal community started to grow, until I’ve meet Jesper Nybroe, a veteran in visual effects with over two decades in VFX world. Jesper was also interested in fractals and back in 2017 we started a “fractal based” company called “Machina-Infinitum”.
At “MI”, we investigate the use of 3D fractals in a professional VFX pipeline, offering services for Music videos and in film productions. Our main objective is to show people how awesome fractals are, building and interpreting formulas that no one has seen before.
We need more fractals in our future !
-VFX Artist Jesper Nybroe
A veteran in Visual Effects, Jesper has over 2 decades of experience in the VFX world.
He has been involved in countless feature films, music videos and commercials. After many years of working for some of the most respected companys around the world, Jesper decided to make a HQ at home and do all his work remotely.
In 2013 he got bitten by the amazing world of 3D fractals and has been obsessed by it ever since.
Fortunately he wasn’t the only one obsessed…
